CarolinaWren041417 2This ID Guide to the East Texas Birds is a work in progress.  It is meant to primarily be a very basic photo ID list with little other information on the more commonly seen species. This is not intended to be a comprehensive list of all species ever seen at LOP but rather the ones that are more commonly seen.  We may add a small amount of text but probably will not add a lot of additional photos for each species.  There will likely be only one photo.  Color variants, immatures, females and more rarely seen species can be found in the referenced field guide.

NOTE: Unless indicated otherwise, the photos were taken by members of this site - Kristi & Michael.  We will get photos of the other species as soon as we can. It is an ongoing project. If you have pictures of any of the species which do not currently have pictures and would like contribute to this list, please contact us.  We will consider other submissions and give you photo credit.

REFERENCE BOOK: For more information about any of these birds, we have included the page number of one of the best bird guides at the end of each row.  The referenced pages refer to The Sibley Field Guide to Birds of Eastern North America, First Edition (10th printing).  Outstanding guide.

Please report any errors or suggestions of species who should be on this list.  Use the Contact page on the menu above.
