As storm clouds were moving in and the sky was getting dark, we were able to make a quick check of the nest one day last week. It was disconcerting because for the first time, we were only able to see one eaglet. We thought we could also hear Liberty, but were not sure. Both parents were perched and watching from a nearby branch. Freedom was shrieking, alone in the nest, and I believe that we witnessed one of her first flights. Seemingly uncomfortable, and as if being coaxed, she finally flew to a nearby dead pine tree, mouth open and screeching the whole way. Mom followed and sat on the other side, as if to offer moral support. Nature in action is such a beautiful thing.

First, I want to thank you for letting me be a part of the eagle watch. I loved the times I went with you and got photography Liberty and Freedom - and, of course, their parents. I took some photos that I will always treasure - just like I treasure the moments out there on the boat watching the eagles and nature in action. The Bald Eagle parents did a great job of building their nest and raising their young. Just like you have done a great job at covering the entire process in your blogs and, of course, on Facebook. You did an absolutely terrific job and I, again, thank you for letting me be a part of it. I love nature and it does not take much involvement with it to really please me, but this was special. I won't make any dumb cliche's about "soaring with eagles" or anything trite like that. I will just say again, "Thank you for letting me be a part of it and sharing this bucket list caliber event with you. (I will post this same message on your FB post).
